Coming to Dwell (Zechariah 2:10-11)

10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord. 11 And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.

Zechariah 2:10-11 (ESV)

The Nativity by Federico Barocci

He is coming to dwell
among us.
Are we prepared?
Are our hearts open to accept
what He truly is?

He is a promise of prophets,
stoned and mocked.
He is the word with God
before time,
the lyric of Zechariah's song.

He is the Magnificat fulfilled,
the sprout
from a tree planted
in Jesse's soil.
He is freedom for those in sin,
light in the darkness.

He is a babe
in a cold stable,
swaddled to His mother's bosom.
He is the song
the shepherds heard.

He is the blood,
staining
a wooden cross on Calvary.
He is the bread offered
in His name,
the lamb of sacrifice.

He is coming to dwell
in your heart,
a babe
a teacher,
the son of God.
Bind yourselves to Him
and be His people.
