Song of the Vineyard (Isaiah 5:1-7)

A lyric written nearly 15 years ago when I was paging through the book of Isaiah and touched by the imagery of a derelict vineyard. My friend had a vineyard It sat on a very fertile hill and he cleared away all the stones and he planted his finest vines. Now he built a wall to guard it and keep the wild ones out and he waited for his grapes to ripen and every grape in the vineyard made a sour wine. Is there anything I failed to do for my vineyard to bear good fruit? Jerusalem, judge between me and my vineyard. Here's what I will do, I'll tear down the walls and let the wild ones in. The weeds and the briars will grow over it and I will hoe the soil no more. Thorns they will cover it and I will forbid the clouds to bring rain. People of Judah I expected you to be everything good and everything right. Is there anything I failed to do for my vineyard to bear good fruit? Jerusalem, judge between me and my vineyard. copyright 2002 - Donald P Ja...
