With one heart we offer You our bread and our wine. We seek to dine at Your table with those who have sought and found.   We are the sheep who have wandered in darkness. We have glimpsed the light and decided to walk into its radiance.   With one heart we take what You offer, knowing we can never return the gift. You are faithful, despite my doubt. I question and make promises, covenants, with You, I am too sinful to maintain. And yet, You are faithful. You soothe me when I am anxious and remind me that your covenants have always been kept. You embrace me when I am defeated. Pick me up when I have been brought low. You light the darkness around me and beckon me to follow Your ways. You are faithful despite my denials. I cling to my notions as if they are Your will, wandering as a lost sheep. You lift me up. Setting me high above those who doubt. Your strong hand and arm keep me sturdy. You have given me victory while others fell in defeat. Those who say You are false, a tale refrained by the weak, are dust and bone. I am spirit, able to follow Your breath into the fields of battle. Mighty Lord, Your strength protects me. I am preserved by Your will. You lift me up, for it is what You intend. You are the tree beneath the limb and I am barely a leaf. Praise Him for He has brought us from low places to the high. He has embraced the sinner cast out by the righteous. Praise Him for He has sat at table with the unacceptable. He has touched the untouchable and forgiven the unforgivable. Praise Him for He carries every cross of every seed sown by His Father. His blood washes our garments white as fresh fallen snow. Lover of my soul, cradle me in the palm of Your hand. Mold the features of my life into a creation reflecting You. Healer of my soul, ease the anguish and anxiety encumbering my being. You are light without darkness. As long as I live in Your embrace shadows cannot discourage me. You shine on me with goodness, O Lord, my God. Psalm 9:1-2 We rise after the storm, some with fewer scars than others. The dark clouds give way to sun and eventually the flower blooms. Armies have marched against us. We have been betrayed. The heathen have slandered our faith and false judges have condemned believers. Still, as the sun crests in the eastern sky, there is victory. The rays of light bathe our flesh and dry the earth. The enemy has fallen and the unbelievers are without hope. And I will praise the Lord, with all my heart. I will tell of the wonderful things He has done. I will sing with joy because of Him. Unto the Lord I sing praises, with each string of the guitar and the voice in my throat. He has given me sonnets meant to be sung out over the land. He has given me melodies to help stir the mind of the complacent. Unto the Lord I sing with one voice. If another joins I have succeeded at little for it is His words lingering on my tongue. I recite nothing more than the prose of the prophets and the psalms of David.
