Bread from the Good Things

Image
Bread from the good things we've known that nobody tallies. Joe Wise - Here is My Life Gifts given with the dawn, a breath of a new day. Mercy to heal the scars of yesterday. To rise weary, or refreshed. To smell the aroma of coffee, or cradle a mug of hot tea between cold hands. To hear a child's footsteps while the morning is still young. To hear the tale of a dream you dreamt once. Bread offered, filling each meal, if only to satisfy the body's hunger. Words read, spoken by creator and given to all that we might know of an emotion called love. Love that moves beyond life. The all  encompassing embrace of those gifted to us. Those taken for granted when we give thanks. Those we have expected from life when we laid down plans. Those which we cherish because God has bestowed them upon us. Gifts given with the night, to kneel, or to sit, to clear thoughts of the day, thoughts of ourselves. To offer prayer, maybe wordless, and to listen to the wisdom of silence as He gently g...

Separate Shores (We Stand and Watch Each Other)

Image
Inspired by a lyric in a song by Joe Wise, 'Lord, Teach Us to Pray'. Separate. We stand divided, skin tones, creeds, right to life, the meaning of Communion. We have bowed down to the desire of the media, of politicians, religious authorities and the evil one. Were we ever one? Were we ever on the same shore? Maybe once we were more tolerant and the river between us wasn't as wide. Maybe once we had faith. Separate. We are tearing ourselves asunder, at what gain. If you listen can you still hear Him, or has His voice diminished among culture's raucous scream. Has His voice been filtered out by hate, and the lack of love. Lord, teach us to pray, while we still have time to kneel. copyright 2024 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Tiny Blessings (Lord Give Me a Heart of Flesh)

Image
Today I am blessed by tiny hands and delicate feet. I can't help but wait for eyes to open from sleep, squinting into the newness of life. I find myself humming hymns dear to my heart, songs I sang to his mother when she was his size. Thank you Lord for the gifts you bring into the world, to be cared for by loving parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Thank you for gifting C.J. to our family. copyright 2016 - Donald P James Jr Below is the hymn hummed that is dear to my heart
