Heaven and Earth Collide

Image
Heaven and earth collide, one step upon the mountains, the other among the clouds. The kingdom has come. It dwells in your heart. It dwells with those who offer a home. Heaven and earth collide. A tree is adorned with sacrifice. Son of the most high, offered for iniquities of this day and the next. God's only son begotten. To save creation from itself. Heaven and earth collide. A tomb filled with glory. Those in fear find hope, an everlasting song of praise sung in the devastation, peace be with you, as Heaven and earth collide. copyright 2026 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author https://www.goodreads.com

Blood and Water

Image
A Soldier Pierces Christ’s Side - James Tissot Blood and water flowing from the river of the temple. Lambs of the slaughter. Passover calls to the children. Pray as they did once, when Egypt was their prison. Now, to pray in the temple of God. Blood and water flowing from the heart of the temple. Sacrifice of the one lamb. The offering from creator to created. They pray as they will, forever freed from the bonds of every sin forgiven. copyright 2026 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author https://www.goodreads.com

The Altar

Image
The altar on a barren hill, a sacrifice, one seen as the world's victory, one brought forth by man's own sin. The altar among the sinners, gazed upon by the curious and afraid. Some have run to shelter after denial takes root. An altar of purification, crossed beams of rough hewn wood. The serpent is crushed by an act of love. The altar on a barren hill, the arms of the lamb spread wide. "Come to me," He says, "and I will give you peace." copyright 2025 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Brother's Keeper

Image
Of all the sin, flesh to flesh, brother slays brother. Jealousy crawls beneath the skin, a viper with sharpened teeth.   He who has slain will be driven from sight of all that is. An unbearable penance for an act of malice.   The creation of clay and breath has broken the immortal heart and walked away from the Lord’s presence. copyright 2025 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Calves of Gold (1Kings 12:30)

Image
And this became a sin; the people came to worship the one at Bethel  and went as far as Dan to worship the other 1 Kings 12:30 Andrea di Leone (1610-1685) - Adoration of the Golden Calf Calves of gold, and sin takes reign. Who are we to decide that enough time of sacrifice has passed. One placed here, one placed there. Golden statues are blasphemed as gods without any degree of holiness. Images to celebrate, an icon to adore. A life of immorality becomes acceptable because a thing deemed perfect, by the deities of the world, has said so. Calves of Gold, Jerobaum's evil. An empty king, an empty palace. A sacrifice made by false priest to a malleable piece of metal. A house of such sin, one here and one there, will be cast out in its pride. copyright 2024 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Lamb of God (Offered in My Place)

Image
Zurbaran - Lamb of God Lamb of God, offered in ransom for my soul, in place of my flesh, submitting Yourself to an agonizing death, nails, thorns, thirst, suffocation, so I might find Your father's forgiveness. You are not a burnt offering on the altars of heathens. You are flesh and blood on a cross of wood, a tree fashioned by unbelievers, erected on a hill outside the walls of Your holy city. Lamb of God, You take all hatred onto Your tortured body. A thorn for every vice, a spike for a thousand different sins. You absorb the gossip and slander of the world. You embrace the forsaken and the hopeless. You forgive every betrayal and denial, that we might draw toward You. Lamb offered in my place do not count the days of my desperate ploys to be Pilate, Judas, Caiaphas, rather remember the few moments when I have cried at Your feet, listened to Your sermons, or waved branches in the street. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https:...
