Psalm 10:4

Image
In the pride of his face, the wicked does not seek him, all his thoughts are, there is no God. Psalm 10:4 How can one seek if self is the focus? How can one even acknowledge a creator when one denies any existence of one greater than one's self? Why would one seek, when one's worship is of one's own face? Why would one so much as stand before the cross of one's salvation if one believes not in one's sin? Sin, you have laid claim to the children, who pride themselves on embracing you, and shunning love. copyright 2025 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Let Us

Image
The Tower of Babel - Pieter Bruegel the Elder Let us build. Let us plot. Let us make a name for ourselves. Let us be filled with pride. Let us take brick and stone. Let us pile one on top of the other. Let us forge a union which will never fail. Let us be filled with pride. Let us wave a flag. Let us celebrate what we are. Let us forget about He who saves. Let us be filled with pride. copyright 2025 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Atonement

Image
He is the atonement for our iniquities. He is the one who spoke not in His own defense. With Him, jubilee is embraced. We shall sing and dance for this promise has been fulfilled. We are washed. We are white as snow. But for no reason, other than His cross, and His blood. copyright 2025 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Iscariot

Image
There is one among you, one who places a price on the will of God. He has listened to the voices of demons. He has opened the palm of his hands for coin, and the emptiness of betrayal. He will dine with the one, the teacher who he will kiss in greeting. He will set himself at the table, to share the Passover meal, then slip into collusion with those who were greatly pleased by his sin. copyright 2025 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Pride

Image
Pride, the opposite of humility, the door through which demons may enter, invited. The source of sin, the worst of sins. Satan's essential trait. Thoughts that center around self, without God, without love of other. Pride, where grace cannot exist, a viper that gnaws on the heart, tearing down peacefulness, and leaving broken vessels in its wake. Hubris wears a guise which is false. It is the heart of the fallen angels. It is love of self, and not God. copyright 2024 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Chains

Image
Bound by chains, enslaved, submissive to demons of our own design. Crying out when He walks past, knowing He is our only hope. Chains of sin. Chains of hopelessness. He stands before us, outstretch palm, wounded through flash and bone, raised. "Be gone," He says. And we make the choice, to toss the chains at our feet and walk in His wake, or refasten the bonds around  our wrists. copyright 2024 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Clear Water

Image
Clear water, cleansing water, water to wash the body, the mind and the soul. I have stains, but this water, this living water, Jesus spoke about, washes away every blemish of sin. Clear water that flows from mountain streams smooths the surface of rock and sand. Clear water that soften the jagged edges of iniquities bore by those who cup the fluid in their hands and pause to drink. copyright 2024 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Come, Let Us Reason

Image
Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord Isaiah 1:18 Come, let us reason. Let us come together, creator and created. You have walked a road with out light. You have strayed from your guide. You are a lamb influenced by wolves. Come, let us reason. Let us gather at a sacred place, father, son, spirit, believer. You have deceived and slandered. You have painted your souls with sin. You are a lamb, sullied by the dirt of the field. Come, let us reason. let me embrace you once again, a loving father, a prodigal child. I will wash away your scarlet stains. I will make you white as snow. I will cleanse the dirt from your garments and welcome you home. copyright 2024 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

I Need You Lord

Image
I need You Lord. I turn my face to the rain, asking to be cleansed, only You can wash away my impurities and transgressions, not the rain. ~ I need You Lord. My enemies, my fears, are defeated by Your hand, but the storms around me are of my doing, my own creation. ~ I need You Lord. Open for me, the garden's gates. Heal the wounds of serpent torn flesh and satisfy the emptiness in my soul. ~ I need You Lord. From the soil of the earth I call to You, in life and death. You are the essence of my every breath. You are my God. copyright 2018 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Lamentation

Image
The Crucifixion, seen from the Cross , - James Tissot Lord, I come before you with blemishes I can never wipe away. My sores have festered and bled. The pit yawns for my flesh. The flames, eager, that I might be cast into their dancing tongues. Lord, I come before you stained. I am at the table, farthest from you, waiting for the master's crumbs. My wealth is spent on vices. My youth is corrupted by temptation. You, Oh Lord, are the only hope I have. Yours is the only promise keeping me from the flames. Your blood on a rough cut beam of wood cleans every blemish, every scar, if I but believe and turn to Your embrace. copyright 2018 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Happiness and Forgiveness (Psalm 32)

Image
Happy are those whose sins are forgiven,      whose wrongs are pardoned. Psalm 32:1    Happiness, for sins forgiven, a pardon from my Lord. I shout with praise. He does not accuse me of that which I have confessed. When I lived in my shame I was separate from my soul. Drained of my tears and strength my joy was nothing more than embers fading in the shadows. Then I knelt before God. I confessed the darkness He refused to see. For it is my soul laboring in sin not the sight of the Lord. Happiness, for my sins are forgiven. I will follow Him where paths are straight, fields are plowed and the harvest is rich. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Waiting Arms

Image
Arms wide open, a face welcoming a child. The wanderer who returns from the briar patch, wounded but healed, by the embrace of the waiting arms. Arms wide open, a love without condition. The journey home is nearly complete. Filth is cleansed from soul and flesh by the embrace of the waiting arms. Arms wide open, a white robe of forgiveness. The scarlet blood of iniquities is washed away. The sinner is welcomed into the embrace of the waiting arms. Arms wide open, despite pride and venomous tongues. The sheep cornered by shadows of life, clinging to the last ember of hope, crawling from the depths into the embrace of waiting arms. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Fooling Ourselves

Image
I tire of watered down scripture, preached from pulpits reducing the word of God, lessening the impact of disobedience. Yesterday what was sinful is now blessed, what was detested in God's sight is now celebrated. God's word, the road-map for my life is twisted by the faithful and unbelievers. Jesus never said that following Him would be easy. There is much we need to leave behind before entering the Kingdom. If we claim we want to follow the Lord and place our sins in our pockets, disguising them as acceptable, are we only fooling ourselves? copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

So What Do You Say?

Image
They said to him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?" John 8:4-5 Jesus and the adulteress - Rembrandt The accusers fall back into the shadows when the light is shone upon them. Their sins are no less than the ones they chose to judge against. The law of the Lord seeks repentance and forgiveness. The law of guilty men seeks condemnation. There are no stones to hurl into the air. No blood is shed in payment. Every accuser who drags the sinner into the street has cowered from the gaze of light. What words are written in the sand, hypocritical slander, abuses of God's offered direction? Do not claim righteousness if you would consider casting a stone. Do not claim the words of your maker if you would judge her sin as greater than your own. Do not listen to the words of salvation if you have no inclination to take them into your h...
