How Eager

Image
How eager are they, gathered in fields yearning to hear His voice, soothing to their strife, peaceful in their hectic days. How blessed are they in the courtyard, standing in the crowd, engrossed in words made flesh with a heart that bleeds. How sacred are those, speaking sonnets of love on bended knees, walking roads glorified by grace, seeking mercy for others. How eager are they, planted in good soil, who first repeated His words to the peoples of covenant, those who never knew they were loved. copyright 2026 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author https://www.goodreads.com

Beatitudes

Image
Blessed are we who drop our nets into the barren sea. Blessed are we who sit in a field listening to a sermon about love. Blessed are we who dine on barley loaves and fish. Blessed are we who are cured of our scars and sores. Blessed are we who have had our iniquities forgiven. Blessed are we who have seen a blind man wash mud from his eyes. Blessed are  we who cling to the edge of your frayed robe. copyright 2026 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author https://www.goodreads.com

Blessed are They

Image
Robert Payton Reid - Jesus Teaches His Disciples Up the mountain, separate from the crowd. The children had been gathering, to see, touch, and hear, but the chosen twelve needed instruction. Blessed are they... A new set of commandments, meant for the heart. They will see the kingdom, be comforted, inherit the land, and be shown mercy. In the distance the crowds still gather. Drawn by miracles, and rumors of such. But He was here for these words, the words of his Father. Words shared by He who spoke them into creation. copyright 2026 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author https://www.goodreads.com

Salt of the Earth

Image
I was at a funeral service this weekend  for an individual who believed that death was nothing more than death.   The lack of God in life, the lack of God in the afterlife.   It's impossible for me to relate to that way of existence ,   to believe we are nothing more than the foundations we have built on this soil. Salt without flavor, the spiritually lost, standing only on the ground where you toil, without faith, without the embrace of eternal love. Can salt regain its taste after being trampled underfoot in littered streets? Is death simply death without being preserved by salt? You are the salt on the earth. Your desire to believe makes you vibrant, a great joy in the eye of the Lord. Go out and enhance the faith of other, but do not lose your knowledge of God, setting your foundations on things of the soil and not Heaven. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./auth...

Flaunting Our Pardons (Matthew 5:3)

Image
Am I spiritually poor, humble, aware that I am less than the lowest without the blood shed violently on wooden beams? Do I place myself in seats of honor as the adulterated righteous do? Have I been proud of scriptural knowledge, or the menial works I’ve been given skills to perform? The kingdom belongs to those who live in humility, those who know grace in its purest state. The cross embraces the lowly and elevates the sinner to forgiveness. Help me Lord, to be poor in spirit, to be humble, to be washed clean by Your blood without flaunting my pardon in the face of others. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author From the Collection;  The Sermon

Blessed Are You (Beatitudes)

Image
Blessed are you who seek, humble and unassuming, spirits that do not boast. You long to walk down pathways of holiness, roads the world has forsaken. Blessed are you who would never consider themselves holy. You who know your scars and know the texture of the cross redeeming you. Blessed are you who seek, light through the veil of darkness, the sheep lost, the thief to His side, the prostitute whose tears clean His feet. Blessed are the unblessed, those false righteousness condemns. Blessed are you, tired, hungry, thirsty, the prophets spoke your plea and the Father has answered. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author From the Collection;  The Sermon

Light

Image
Light, consumed by shadows dispels no darkness. Light, cloaked by the dusk of evil offers no clarity. Hold the lamp where it may be seen. Let its illumination chase the vile acts of night from unseen corners, harboring transgressions. Light, on a pedestal to shine forth. Light, giving vision to blindness. Light, filling the heart of one who believes and offers our world hope. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author The Sermon (Reflections on the Gospel of Matthew 5-7)
