Different and the Same (Matthew 19:4-6)

Image
Ciro Ferri - Biblical Wedding (1670-1680 ) In His image we are made. Male and female, made to be in His image, different and the same. Have you not read. It has been said, when those around were listening for answers to other questions, and deaf  to His words. In the beginning He made them male and female that they might come together, inseparable, and be one. In His image we are made. Temples to be glorified without error, different and the same. copyright 2024 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Affirmation

Image
Heinrich Hofmann, "Christ and the Rich Young Ruler" "Define for me, love," he said to the teacher. "You tell me," the teacher replied as he scratched his thick white beard. "If I love, do I not accept you as you are?" he asked. "Do you?  Do you affirm everything that I am?" "I guess so." The teacher sat on the surface of a flat stone.  He crossed his legs and studied his student. "What is the greatest piece of literature?" "I guess with all its translations, I would have to say the Bible." "And what does the Bible say about love?" the teacher asked. "That we should love God and our neighbor..." The teacher held up a hand, stopping his student. "You are describing and action of love, but not love.  Wouldn't you say that the act of a man giving his life for another, is an act of love?" "But... that is an action as well," the student responded. "Ahh, so love is ...

Harvest

Image
He will harvest the wheat into the barns, a kingdom earned by love. Love, nourishing the grain which has found good soil. ~ He will separate the weeds without harming the wheat and stoke the flames of the furnace, fires never quenched. ~ Weeds grown beside the wheat, influencing life, body and spirit, yielding nothing of value, or heavenly peace. ~ He will harvest the hearts open to Him and close the barn doors on those who chose to be ignorant of His name. copyright 2018 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Jealousy (Matthew 20:16)

Image
“So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” Matthew 20:16    Jealousy, we have walked in the way of holiness our entire lives and our reward is the same as he who sought You in his final hours. Jealousy, we have fought the battle and crawled along the difficult road, while they slandered, celebrated, drank fine wine and lusted. Jealousy, we have accepted You before our peers, stood by Your word in print and heart, yet they share equally the reward of Your kingdom. The last shall be first. Am I a worker on a street corner, hired at first sunrise, or am I he who stood waiting for a job in the hot day's sun. Help me to not see Your kingdom as I would wish it to be, where only those I understand as righteous stand before Your throne. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Keep Watch (Matthew 24:42-43)

Image
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.   But understand this:  If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming,  he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. Matthew 24:42-43    Keep watch , be vigilant about your ways. There are those, in these days and those to come, who will point to disasters and calendar dates, making claim that the end is ordained. I don't understand, did we not comprehend His words. "You do not know", spoken to men who witnessed every footstep of our Lord's ministry. Does pride invade our hearts , telling us  we have more knowledge of Him than those who stood in the midst of the teacher. There will be floods, there will be wars, there will be earthquakes. Understand the times, but do not feel you can count the days. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donal...

Command Me to Come (Matthew 14:28)

Image
Command me to come on the water. One step before the other, without sinking. Strengthen my faith, that the undertows do not pull me under. Lord, bid me the courage to see beyond the storms, to ignore the dark clouds building against the horizon. And yet, if after all Your words have been spent on me, still stretch out Your hand to pull me up when I am of little faith. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

The Desert

Image
Christ in the Wilderness - Ivan Kramskoy He went into the desert, led by the Spirit, quietly and alone.  Into the wilderness, the domain of stones and sand, where water is scarce and food is dust.  He would thirst and hunger... And prayer would be on His tongue. He held no roll of papyrus covered with symbols forming the words of His father.  Every thought of the Almighty was engraved on His heart, for His father's thoughts were His thoughts. Listen to His meditation and prayer.  It is all around us, when we allow ourselves to step into the solitude found in the wilderness.  We breathe the air, feel the sun bake our flesh, gaze into an unblemished sky.  In the solitude of the wilderness we feel the touch of God. He conversed with His father and found strength in the conversation. And temptation broke through, forcing its way into the sacred interlude.  Was the temptation doubt?  Was it fueled by hunger and thirst? "Turn these sto...

For They Were Fishermen

Image
While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.   And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”   Immediately they left their nets and followed him.   And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.   Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. Matthew 4:18-22 (ESV) He walked along the shore, over moss covered stones and the sea's discarded vegetation.  The water filling the basin before Him teemed with life.  He watched fishermen casting their nets.  He watched others mend the tools of their trade. He counted them all, the fish, the stones and the laborers. Through the work of His father's hand all life was created, the visible and the invisib...

The Broad Path

Image
Enter by the narrow gate.  For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction,  and those who enter by it are many. Matthew 7:13 (ESV) The easy road, the broad path offering distractions of every flavor and shade. The route most will find comfortable, without challenge, without heartache. Walk the way of the lost and never stumble. The easy road, dimly lit to hide the flaws defining its course. Look into the shadows, at the destitute, who believe the popular slogans at the cost of their souls. The easy road, the broad path traveled by many who believe in their own righteousness. A road without a destination worthy of the journey. A road for those who wish to not seek the light. copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

The Day or the Hour

Image
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Mat...

Song of the Baptist

Image
Anton Raphael Mengs - St. John the Baptist Preaching in the Wilderness The wilderness embraces me. Sand and rocks surround my feet. The heat bakes my flesh. It is here, I stand in communion with Yahweh .   I have sought solitude for my entire life,  casting off the temple duties of my father  to become a nomad.   I feast daily on locusts  and the wild fluids of nature.   I hear the creator's voice  and I know He hears me. The Lord tells me  it is time to come out from the dessert.   He,  who I have waited for  since the days in my mother's womb,  is ready to claim the course of his life.   I must make straight  the path he is to follow and beckon the repentant to the Jordan's shore. I must journey from the solitude of the wilderness to the persecution of the world. copyright 2016 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author...
