Perhaps You Have Heard

Image
Enrique Simonet - 1892 Good news! Perhaps you have heard. Not on your nightly news. They would much rather speak of society's ills. But there is good news. You need to seek it, to find it. You need to kneel and not stand. You need to praise and not criticize. Good news! Perhaps you have listened. There are voices that speak with purity. Those with no agenda other than to share the news. Those who are not afraid to stand up for one name. Those who are not afraid to stand up for the words written in one book. Good news! Perhaps you have understood. If so, have you taken care to nourish the seed? Have you fertilized the soil? Has it born good fruit where you dwell? Has it been shared with those who need to hear the most? Good news! Perhaps you have heard. The sonnet is spoken by the preacher in the street. The words are whispered by a friend at your bedside. There is One

But there is one light which shines through any darkness, one beacon guiding the way through any storm. You say doubt fills your heart and He says, “Come the lame are healed, the blind see and the poor have heard the Good News.” But there is one Bread which nourishes your soul, one grain of wheat broken, that all may be made whole. You say you’ve lost trust in a deceitful world, and He says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled, believe in me.” And there is one Lamb, one sacrifice for all sin, one without blemish washing you clean in His blood. copyright 2019 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

The Messenger (Isaiah 52:7)

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” Isaiah 52:7 (ESV) The Prophet Isaiah (Bible Card from 1904) There is a shout from the mountain, a herald calls out to the captives. He is coming to proclaim a victory, won for those who know of love and long to dwell in its embrace. The messenger announces good news, a new way. A life in the spirit, no longer of the flesh. A life of peace not war. I listen to him shout. My soul clings to every word. How marvelous the works of this Lord who stoops down to touch my brow. copyright 2016 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author
