The Rich Young Man

Image
The Rich Young Man - Alexandre Bida Go on and say it. Why would you call him good? Perhaps he is as you say, a teacher filled with goodness. But he is much more. He is waiting for you to proclaim to the crowd that he is as you have stated good, and only God is good. Go on and say it. He does not need to make the proclamation, you do. The crowds need to hear this from your mouth. You need to witness for others, as well as yourself. You need to answer the question, who do they say that I am? Go on and do as he says. But instead, you lower your head in sadness. The fibers of the world and its riches have woven their way into the soul and embrace your heart. He looks upon you with love, even though you cannot love him more than your wealth. copyright 2026 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author https://www.goodreads.com

Greed

Image
Take care to guard against all greed,  for though one may be rich, one's life does not consist of possessions. Luke 12:15 Be rich in soul. Be rich in all that matters to the one who painted His name upon the seas and in the heavens. The wealth of holiness, a possession, which can never be taken, from one who is sealed by grace. These riches, like manna, are never to be hoarded, even though wealth such as this has little value to the world. Do not gather, Do not set out tomorrow's bread when today has much to give. Do not place in a barn that which you will never need, only to watch it perish in the flames. copyright 2025 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Man of Folly (James 5:1-6)

Image
We don't heed these warnings. We count our pieces of gold and silver. I am as guilty as the richest. My sums are not nearly as elaborate but there is little difference in the eyes of He who we will stand before. Don't let this become your God. It will rot and become a testimony against you. Gold and silver, coins, are for this world. Embrace them and condemn yourself. Remember the rich man, the young fool, who chose not to follow Christ. One heart wept at that decision. The heart of He who came to die that the man of folly might choose wealth. copyright 2024 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

1 Timothy 6:7

Image
And Paul says to Timothy, What did you bring into the world? Nothing! What can you take out of the world? Nothing! And we strive for more when we have everything we need. We work until our fingers have been made raw and worry about obtaining more than we have already been given. Wealth of coinage brings temptation and heartache. Those who desire trinkets of silver and gold are led to the world's truth, not God's We sacrifice relationships for careers. We ignore the urgent prayer in our souls which longs to be heard. And still, Paul says to Timothy... copyright 2023 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./autho
