Along the Road

Image
James Tissot - Sick Awaiting the Passage of Jesus Along the road they gather, those who have heard and want to believe. Will healing bring them closer to the Word? Will sight help them to stand beneath His cross and see the son as He is? Along the road they call out. He will touch the leper. He will cause demons to submit. Will the wretched kneel in homage when they no longer bleed? Will they recall His name when He rises from a tomb? Along the road they plead. God hears them today and tomorrow. He needs but to walk past and allow you to touch the hem of His garment, and you will either sing of miracles, or explain away the sores that once bled. copyright 2025 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Faithful

Image
You are faithful, despite my doubt. I question and make promises, covenants, with You, I am too sinful to maintain. And yet, You are faithful. You soothe me when I am anxious and remind me that your covenants have always been kept. You embrace me when I am defeated. Pick me up when I have been brought low. You light the darkness around me and beckon me to follow Your ways. You are faithful despite my denials. I cling to my notions as if they are Your will, wandering as a lost sheep. And yet You, O Lord, are faithful. copyright 2018 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

Open Door

Image
You open a door when I ask to see the other side and I, a frightened child, hesitate to enter. If access were not for me to gain I am sure You would have closed off the route or made it difficult for me to traverse the threshold I ask for guidance and when Your touch is obvious I still tend to doubt myself. Hold open the door long enough for me to enter and bathe me in Your grace despite my uncertainties. copyright 2018 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author

John 20:29 (Doubt)

Image
Carl Bloch - "The Doubting Thomas" Doubt, filled with the essence  of my own demise. Others have spoken of their insights. Am I jealous that I was not in the room, or have I always been skeptical? Doubt, it can't be cured by a sermon, no matter if His word is built on your foundation. I have always questioned what I can't see or touch. Doubt, my fingers probe the wounds, the open sores where they pierced you. Not only are my eyes given proof, but my hands as well. Doubt, is there a deeper blessing to faith when we believe without seeing? Is there more intimacy in our innocent trust when we can't trace His wounds, but know they are there? copyright 2017 - Donald P James Jr https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donald-P.-James-Jr./author From the Collection;  According to John
