Tongues of Flame

El Greco - Pentecost

Tongues of flame,

the Spirit,

promised,

chases away the darkness of fear.

The advocate has made strong,

those who were weakened

by the loss of hope.

Tongues of flame,

the apostles,

the believers,

have spoken praises foreign.

Those who speak the name

have the gift to lay hands

on the lame.

Tongues of flame,

upon a world

of doubt,

a world without faith.

Spirit descend now

to the brows of those who seek,

those who need the flame.
