Jesus Wept (John 11:28-44)

The piece below is from 'Pictures of the Messiah',
a collection of poems written in the perspective of those who witnessed.
'Pictures of the Messiah' is available at Amazon, in print and Kindle formats

See how deeply He loved him.
They were like brothers,
                good friends.
They shared meals together,
at table,
like family.
They laughed and shared memories,
good times,
sorrowful times
and times of stagnant routines.

Watch Him stand before the cold stone,
a tomb where lies
his brother, his friend.
He healed that man born blind,
didn’t He?

His heart breaks.
He weeps.
And then loudly calls out
into the lowly places
and even the dead
                hear His voice.
