Come Aside (A Place of Retreat)

Come aside and rest awhile
in a place where the spirit dwells,
where there is planted
a refreshing seed of life.

Come aside and rest awhile
on pathways of serenity,
built by hands
that fold themselves in prayer.

Come aside and rest awhile
beneath a tree that feels all seasons.
Here there are no barren bushes
blown by dry winds,
only voices of children
loved by their God.

Come away from your troubles,
from the concrete walls of your world.
Turn away
from your loneliness and fear.

Come aside and rest awhile
in a place where the spirit dwells,
where  gentle song
is carried on a breeze.

Come aside and rest awhile
with a deep prayer of love,
words without need
of worldly acceptance.
